Fliban is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for acquired, generalized Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. A non-hormonal drug that works by increasing certain neurochemicals, noradrenaline and dopamine, which rebalance the imbalance of brain chemicals associated with acquired hypoactive sexual desire disorder or low sexual interest. Indicated for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) as characterized by low sexual desire that causes marked distress or interpersonal difficulty and is not caused by a coexisting medical or psychiatric condition, problems within the relationship, or the effects of a medication or other drug substance. Dosed at bedtime because administration during waking hours increases risks of hypotension, syncope, accidental injury, and CNS depression. Discontinued after 8 weeks if no improvement. Your risk of severe low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) is increased if you take Fliban and: do not drink alcohol if you take Fliban. Do not take or start taking any prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, or herbal supplements while taking Fliban until you have talked with your doctor. Your doctor will tell you if it is safe to take other medicines or herbal supplements while you are taking Fliban. Do not take Fliban if you have liver problems. Sleepiness is a common side effect of Fliban and can be serious. Taking Fliban can increase your risk of sleepiness if taken during waking hours, if you drink alcohol, or take certain medicines or herbal supplements. Low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) can happen when you take Fliban even if you do not drink alcohol or take other medicines or herbal supplements. Your risk of low blood pressure and fainting (loss of consciousness) is increased if Fliban is taken during waking hours, if you drink alcohol, or if you take certain medicines or herbal supplements.
