Rostar is a lipid-regulating drugs used to treat high cholesterol and related conditions and to prevent cardiovascular disease. The active ingredient present in Rostar is Rosuvastatin. Rostar is a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Rostar slows the production of cholesterol in the body. You should take Rostar as directed by the doctor who prescribed it to you. Dosage and directions are also stated on the leaflet included in the pack. You must not take more than the stated daily dose. If you accidentally overdose you should seek medical attention immediately. Rostar should be stored in a cool, dry place. Liver functions should be monitored before and at 12 week interval following initial therapy. Endocrine, electrolyte disorders or uncontrolled seizures, serious condition suggestive of myopathy or predisposing to the development of renal failure. For those receiving ciclosporin, maximum dose: 5 mg once daily. Contraindications - severe renal impairment, active liver disease, unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases, hypersensitivity, pregnancy, lactation. Some of the mild side effects of Rostar are: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, myalgia, chest pain, peripheral oedema, depression, insomnia, rash, paraesthesia, proteinuria, asthenia, rhabdomyolysis with acute renal failure. Store it at room temperature. Keep away from light and children.
