Forcan is used to treat meningitis, pneumonia and fungal infections of the mouth, kidneys, throat, liver, heart, abdomen and urinary tract. It also has been used to treat vaginal infections and oral thrush. It is usually taken once a day. Forcan can be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand. Do not take more or less than prescribed by your doctor. Take Forcan exactly as directed. The side effects are very mild and include: diarrhea, nausea, food tasting different, headache, feeling dizzy, stomach pain. Before taking Forcan: Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Diflucan or any other drugs. Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, especially antiviral agents like: zidovudine, astemizole, anticoagulants ('blood thinners') like: warfarin, asthma medication, cisapride, hydrochlorothiazide, rifampin, stomach medications like: cimetidine, oral contraceptives, oral medicine for diabetes, phenytoin, tacrolimus, rifabutin, terfenadine, and all vitamins. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver or kidney disease or a history of alcohol abuse. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Forcan, call your doctor.
