A homoeopathic paediatrician, a counselling expert and a freelance writer are a few words to describe my profession. My sole aim is to put forth practical piece of information that guides every one right in the direction, blending the medicos to a layman with a simple gesture to make the medical things a little less convoluted and comprehendible.
Thanks
Being a mother requires a lot of preparation. This preparation is both in terms of physical well being as well as mental. Conception is just the first stage to an impending motherhood. During pregnancy, a lot of disorders may reveal its presence. The list of such pregnancy related diseases is long. However, these diseases can be controlled as well as prevented too. Here is a list of few common pregnancy disorders among women and ways to prevent or control it.
Amniotic Fluid Disorders, Bleeding, Blighted Ovum, Cancer, Chickenpox (Varicella), Cholestasis of Pregnancy, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Ectopic (Tubal) Pregnancy, Epilepsy, Fibroids of the Uterus, Gestational Diabetes, Hyper emesis Gravidarum, Incompetent Cervix, Infectious Diseases, Intrauterine Growth Restriction, Listeriosis, Molar Pregnancy, Multiples Pregnancy Issues, Placenta Previa, Placenta Abruption, Preeclampsia, Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM), Rubella (German Measles), Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Toxoplasmosis, Urinary Tract Infections.
Inform about your medical history prior to conception:
If you are aware of any disorders such as gestational diabetes, epilepsy etc. from your side of the family or your partner’s side of the family, do not forget to mention it to your doctor. This piece of information will help the doctor in deciding the course of action to help you prepare for your pregnancy. This step can be taken both before and after conception. However, if you are aware of such pregnancy related ailments then you should immediately let your doctors know. This is because out of every 10 pregnancies, 7 are unplanned. And surely you do not want your pregnancy disorders to harm the unborn fetus. There are certain lifestyle habits which can lead to pregnancy related disorders. Therefore, it is really necessary to reveal all the information about your lifestyle and your habits to your doctor.
Maintain proper hygiene and be informed:
Some of the pregnancy related disorders are due to lack of maintenance of proper hygiene. These pregnancy disorders can be caused by lack of information too. Many women feel that regularly visiting their obstetrician will see them through the pregnancy. But this is a myth. No doctor will tell you the obvious things about your pregnancy. For example, one needs to have lot of water during this time. Water will not only keep you hydrated from inside but also prevent the dry skin which develops during pregnancy. Apart from these benefits, it prevents disorders like premature rupture of membrane (PROM), urinary tract infections and amniotic fluid disorders.
Get yourself medically checked prior to conception in case you are opting for a planned pregnancy. Sometimes, when women want to conceive and can’t progress with a full term, they discover that they have pregnancy disorders like ectopic pregnancy or incompetent cervix or even Placenta Previa. These disorders have no cause or solution. You are born with such conditions. No amount of medication or surgery can treat them. However, if you are careful, you can control it to a great extent.
Thus, by keeping awareness before and after pregnancy, you can avoid pregnancy disorders and have a happy motherhood.
